Because it is personal.

Experiencing a cancer diagnosis, walking alongside someone who has, or being part of the healthcare team caring for these individuals is hard work.

It can force initiation into a club you never wanted to join.

Having a mental health team who understands the uniqueness of cancer survivorship, the critical role of care partners, and the beauty of community is invaluable. The Collective’s approach is holistic, addressing emotional, psychological, and social dimensions of care. We believe in the power of compassionate, person-centered care, and are committed to helping people find strength, resilience, and hope throughout their journey.

The Common Thread Collective’s specialties include adjustment disorders, depression, anxiety, grief, coping with chronic illness, life transitions, stress management, burnout, and existential distress.

Given our team’s clinical background, we also work closely with individuals struggling with cancer-specific challenges such as fear of recurrence, “scanxiety”, and legacy building.

We utilize supportive counseling with all clients as well as principles of Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Mindfulness Based Stress Reduction (MBSR), and Dignity Therapy based on individual needs.

  • You are not your illness. You have an individual story to tell. You have a name, a history, a personality. Staying yourself is part of the battle.

  • Tell the story of the mountain you climbed. Your words could become a page in someone else's survival guide.

  • There is a moment, a cusp, when the sum of gathered experience is worn down by the details of living. We are never so wise as when we live in this moment.
